Orlando Named the Top Meeting Destination in North America by Cvent

Orlando, Fla. – May 14, 2024 – Cvent has once again named Orlando as the Top Meeting Destination in North America. This marks the ninth time that Orlando has received this prestigious recognition from the leading meetings, events, and hospitality technology provider. The Cvent Top Meeting Destinations lists evaluate and rank cities based on their ability to engage event planners and attract group business. Rankings are determined by sourcing activity through the Cvent Supplier Network, one of the largest venue-sourcing platforms globally.

“We’re honored that Orlando continues to lead as the Cvent Top Meeting Destination in North America,” said Casandra Matej, president & CEO, Visit Orlando. “Group business is vital to our destination, supporting our local businesses, vendors, and hospitality workers, and making a significant impact on our community through charitable donations and endeavors. Orlando has the space, venues, accommodations, dining, entertainment, and services needed to create memorable and productive events.”

“We congratulate Orlando for being recognized as a Cvent Top Meeting Destination in North America. This accolade underscores Orlando’s dedication to partnering with hoteliers and event planners to orchestrate exceptional events,” said Bharet Malhotra, Cvent Senior Vice President, Hospitality Cloud. “Given the immense value that meetings and events bring to local economies, it’s crucial that convention and visitors bureaus and destination management companies continue to attract group business to their locales.”

Meetings and conventions, including city-wide and in-house events booked by the Visit Orlando convention sales team for 2023 and beyond, are expected to bring approximately $4 billion in economic impact to the local economy. From October 2023 to September 2024, the Orange County Convention Center will host 1.7 million attendees across 184 events, generating $2.96 billion in economic impact.

In addition to supporting local businesses and providing employment for thousands, these meetings bring substantial recognition and benefits to the Orange County community. Over the past year, events at the OCCC have contributed:

  • $1 million in donated home improvement products.
  • 40,000 pounds of repurposed materials to build homes.
  • 32,000 pounds of food donated to those in need.
  • $114,000 in educational scholarships.
  • $60,000 in bicycle donations for foster kids.
