Orlando will be the home of a major U.S. Olympics event in the spring of 2024!

The USA Track & Field (USATF) and United State Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) announced that Downtown Orlando will be the destination that welcomes over 500 men and women athletes on Feb. 3, 2024. The initial trials will be key to the U.S. team's path to the Paris 2024 Olympics with only the top three finishers in men’s and women’s league making the trip overseas.

“We look forward to a fantastic marathon on the streets of Orlando in selecting USATF’s first six 2024 Olympians,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel in a prepared statement. “The competition is the culmination of months of preparation on their journeys to gold, and we’re excited to see great competition and fast times.”

This is the first time a Florida city has been selected for this particular three-hour event. Orlando has been host to other major Olympics events in the past, such as soccer in the 1996 Summer Olympics.

This event will provide a huge economic boom for the City Beautiful with over 100,000 estimated spectators and continuing to improve the overall positive status of the city on a global scale.
